Episode 43. The Research Story
Show notes
- No news this week but I did enjoy reading an article called ‘The Secret Lives of LinkedIn Users’. Its nice to see the lighter side of LinkedIn!
- The ebook How to Feature on LinkedIn Pulse: The Definitive Guide to Publishing Successful Long-form Posts on LinkedIn provides some interesting analysis on what it takes to get a published post into the Pulse news feed. Interesting for sure but I still remain to be convinced of the benefits of publishing posts on LinkedIn. Even the author Gericke Potgieter is only getting hundreds of views for his posts rather than thousands – despite his extensive research!
- Researching on LinkedIn. There is so much information in someone’s profile yet many people overlook much of this valuable data. In particular I would always recommend reading someone’s recommendations (see below) Received are interesting but the ones given can often be real golden nuggets!
Question
What is the difference between ‘Public’ and ‘connections’ when posting a status update?
ANS = Using the Connections option means that only your 1st tier connections can see your update when checking your recent activity whereas public means that anyone can…which is the idea really!
Thank you so much for listening, I really value your support and interest.
